NEOPAT is a nonprofit organization dedicated to honoring and supporting veterans and military families across Northeast Ohio. Through various programs and initiatives, NEOPAT provides financial assistance, educational resources, and community support to those who have served our nation selflessly.

Position Summary: NEOPAT is seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Philanthropy to lead our major gift fundraising efforts, steward donor relationships, and cultivate new prospects. The Director of Philanthropy will play a crucial role in advancing NEOPAT’s mission by securing significant contributions to support our programs and initiatives.

Major Gift Fundraising:

o  Develop and implement strategies to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward major donors, including individuals, corporations, and foundations.

o  Lead efforts to secure major gifts, multi-year pledges, and planned giving commitments to meet fundraising goals.

o  Collaborate with the Executive Director and Board of Directors to create compelling cases for support and fundraising campaigns.

Donor Stewardship and Cultivation:

o  Build and maintain strong relationships with current major donors, ensuring meaningful engagement and personalized stewardship.

o  Develop tailored cultivation plans for major donors, including personalized communications, events, and recognition opportunities.

o  Regularly communicate with donors to provide updates on NEOPAT’s impact and express gratitude for their support.

Prospect Research and Identification:

o  Conduct prospect research to identify and qualify potential major donors, assessing their capacity, interest, and affinity for NEOPAT’s mission.

o  Collaborate with the Development team to prioritize prospects and develop cultivation strategies tailored to their interests and philanthropic goals.

o  Utilize prospect management tools and databases to track interactions, manage relationships, and monitor progress toward fundraising goals.

Collaborative Engagement:

o  Work closely with the NEOPAT team, Executive Director, and Board of Directors to coordinate fundraising activities, events, create/update development collateral and campaigns.

o  Collaborate with Marketing and Communications staff to develop donor-centric messaging, materials, and impact reports.

o  Represent NEOPAT at donor meetings, community events, and networking opportunities to promote philanthropic partnerships and support.

Additional duties as assigned.

o  Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree or CFRE certification preferred.

o  Minimum of 5 years of experience in major gift fundraising, donor relations, or related fields, preferably within the nonprofit sector.

o  Proven track record of successfully securing major gifts and meeting fundraising goals.

o  Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport and establish trust with donors and stakeholders.

o  Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to articulate NEOPAT’s mission and impact effectively.

o  Strategic thinker with the ability to develop and execute comprehensive fundraising strategies.

o  Proficiency in donor database management and prospect research tools.

o  Willingness to travel up to 35-40% of the time (primarily local and regional travel).

o  Passion for supporting veterans and military families and a commitment to NEOPAT’s mission.

The ideal candidate for each of these positions needs to be a self-motivated individual, who can work with little supervision, be creative and self-reliant attaining goals set.

o  Must be able to pass a background check and agree to our conduct & conflict of interests policy.

o  This is a full-time position and will operate as a 1099 contractor

o  Salary range is between $70,000-80,000 commensurate with experience.
