Patriot Circle Donors Gather at Progressive Field to Celebrate NEOPAT’s Mission
On Wednesday, July 15, more than 90 NEOPAT supporters gathered at Progressive Field for the Patriot Circle Donor Reception—an evening dedicated to celebrating the generosity, compassion, and shared commitment that make our mission possible.
Throughout the reception, attendees connected with fellow supporters and reflected on the many ways their involvement helps NEOPAT serve veterans, active-duty military members, and their families across Northeast Ohio. The evening also provided an opportunity to hear directly from two veterans whose lives were impacted by NEOPAT’s network of donors and community partners.
Army and Marine Corps veteran Greg shared how his family’s life changed in an instant earlier this year. In late March, Greg and his young adult sons returned from a shopping trip to find another son running from their smoke-filled home while calling 911. An electrical fire had caused extensive smoke and water damage. Although the house could be salvaged, the family faced an overwhelming recovery and the immediate need to replace essential belongings.
After learning about the fire through our partners at United Way 211, NEOPAT provided Greg and his sons with gift cards to purchase new clothing, food, and other necessities as they navigated the difficult weeks that followed. We also coordinated with partner organizations to secure additional financial assistance for the family.
Army veteran Bruce also spoke at the reception, sharing a remarkable story of perseverance. Last year, while returning from a family vacation, Bruce was struck by a drunk driver and awoke to learn that his injuries had left him paralyzed.
After receiving training through the VA to operate a vehicle using hand controls, Bruce was referred to NEOPAT for assistance purchasing the equipment. NEOPAT covered the full cost, restoring a sense of freedom and independence. At the reception, Bruce’s wife and daughter shared that once he regained that freedom, he began driving everywhere he could. Bruce recently competed in the National Veterans Wheelchair Games in Detroit and continues to move forward with extraordinary determination.
Greg and Bruce represent just two of the numerous veterans and military families NEOPAT assists throughout the year. Every situation is different, but our goal remains the same: to respond when members of our military community face unexpected hardships and ensure they know they are not alone.
The support of our Patriot Circle donors gives NEOPAT the ability to act quickly, provide meaningful assistance, and bring trusted partners together when a veteran or military family needs help. We are deeply grateful to everyone who joined us at Progressive Field—and to every donor whose generosity allows us to continue serving those who have served our country.
