USS Beloit Thanksgiving Dinner

USS Beloit Thanksgiving Dinner

Cleveland (November, 2024)

It was a special Thanksgiving for the crew of the U.S. Navy’s USS Beloit which docked in Cleveland on Thanksgiving Day en route from Wisconsin to the ship’s homeport in Mayport, Florida.  NEOPAT, in partnership with the USS Cleveland Foundation, was able to provide a catered Thanksgiving dinner for the entire crew.

Some 30 volunteers from both organizations gave up a part of their Thanksgiving to serve the crew who otherwise would not have had a chance to enjoy the holiday.  The USS Beloit is a 388 foot Freedom Class-littoral combat ship named in honor of the city of Beloit, Wisconsin.  She is a “sister ship” to the soon to be commissioned USS Cleveland.

The 87-member crew of the Beloit was extremely grateful to all who participated in making the day a special one.  Both organizations will be partnering again next fall for a similar effort when the USS Cleveland will be in Cleveland for the ship’s christening ceremony.

NEOPAT volunteer Louie DeChant, grandson of NEOPAT Senior Advisor Rick DeChant, helped with serving of meals to the crew.
