The Veterans Day Celebration hosted by the Joint Veterans Council of Cuyahoga County (JVCOCC) was a truly inspiring way to begin a day dedicated to honoring those who have served our nation. Veterans, military, and community members gathered to reflect, recognize, and give thanks to those who have worn our country’s uniform.
The morning featured a lineup of fantastic speakers who shared powerful messages about service, sacrifice, and the ongoing commitment to support those who defend our freedoms. Each story offered a reminder of the deep impact veterans continue to have—both during their time in service and throughout civilian life.
The national anthem was performed beautifully, filling the room with pride and reverence. From the first note to the final word of thanks, the event embodied the true spirit of Veterans Day: gratitude, unity, and respect for those who served.
One highlight of the ceremony was the presentation of the Student Veterans of the Year Award, presented by NEOPAT Chairman Rick DeChant to Larry Wilcox of CSU and Aaron Wulu of Tri-C College. This special recognition honors a student veteran who exemplifies leadership, perseverance, and a dedication to service beyond the military—qualities that inspire everyone in attendance.
The JVCOCC once again demonstrated its steadfast commitment to honoring all who served and supporting those still transitioning into new chapters of life. It was a heartfelt and memorable way to kick off Veterans Day—one that reminded everyone that the strength of our nation begins with the men and women who protect it.
