Honoring a Hero: MSG Joseph J. Andres Jr. and a Legacy That Lives On

On Veterans Day 2025, the City of Seven Hills dedicated the MSG Joseph J. Andres Jr. Memorial Park, a lasting tribute to a hometown hero whose life and service embody the very values NEOPAT is committed to honoring. NEOPAT was deeply honored to support this meaningful project—one that ensures the sacrifice of Master Sergeant Joseph J. Andres Jr. will never be forgotten.

This past Christmas Eve marked 20 years since MSG Andres made the ultimate sacrifice while serving our nation during Operation Iraqi Freedom on December 24, 2005, in Baqubah, Iraq. A proud Seven Hills native, Joe’s life was defined by humility, quiet strength, and an unwavering commitment to others.

Joe was a graduate of St. Columbkille School and Padua Franciscan High School, where he was known for his character and dedication. He began his college studies in materials engineering at the University of Cincinnati but soon felt called to serve something greater than himself. He enlisted in the Army Reserve as a Combat Medic, later volunteering for active duty and earning a place in the elite ranks of the United States Army Special Forces as a Communications Noncommissioned Officer.

Throughout his career, MSG Andres served with distinction in Germany, Texas, and Washington, demonstrating extraordinary courage, leadership, and professionalism. His service was recognized with numerous awards and decorations, including the Bronze Star Medal with Valor Device, Purple Heart, Meritorious Service Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge, Special Forces Tab, and many others—each reflecting a life lived in service to his country and his fellow soldiers.

But beyond the medals and commendations, Joe is remembered most for who he was: a devoted son, brother, friend, and teammate. His life reflected the very best of our community—a willingness to put others first and a deep sense of responsibility to protect and serve.

The dedication of MSG Joseph J. Andres Jr. Memorial Park ensures that future generations will know Joe’s name, his story, and the sacrifice he made. The park stands as a place of reflection, remembrance, and gratitude—an enduring reminder of the cost of freedom and the heroes who defend it.

At NEOPAT, Keeping the Promise means honoring our fallen heroes while standing alongside the families and communities they leave behind. Supporting the development of this memorial park is one way we help ensure that MSG Andres’s legacy continues to inspire, educate, and unite the community he loved.

We encourage our community to keep the Andres family in their thoughts and to consider supporting the continued enhancement of the memorial park. Contributions help preserve this meaningful space and ensure Joe’s sacrifice is honored for generations to come.

Thank you, Master Sergeant Joseph J. Andres Jr., for your service, your sacrifice, and your lasting impact. You will never be forgotten.
