NEOPAT Joins Community to Honor Veterans at Wreaths Across America

Frigid winter temperatures didn’t stand a chance against the spirit of gratitude and patriotism on display last weekend in Massillon. On December 13, nearly 300 dedicated volunteers gathered at Calvary Cemetery to honor those who served by placing holiday wreaths on the graves of 2,300 veterans laid to rest there.

The event was part of Wreaths Across America, a national initiative dedicated to remembering, honoring, and teaching future generations about the sacrifices made by our nation’s heroes. NEOPAT was once again honored to serve as a local supporter of this meaningful campaign, standing alongside community partners and volunteers who believe deeply in preserving the legacy of our veterans.

Volunteers worked together to ensure that each veteran’s grave was marked with a wreath—a powerful symbol of remembrance and appreciation during the holiday season. The event served as a visible reminder that our veterans are never forgotten.

NEOPAT Interim Board Chair Rick DeChant was on hand to participate in the ceremony and help place wreaths, reinforcing NEOPAT’s commitment to honoring military service and promoting patriotism through community engagement. His presence reflected the organization’s ongoing dedication to supporting initiatives that bring people together to recognize the true cost of freedom.

The effort was made possible through collaboration with Operation Flags of Freedom and the Perry Rotary Club, which helped coordinate wreath sponsorships. Sponsoring a wreath offered community members a meaningful way to express gratitude—ensuring that every veteran resting at Calvary Cemetery was remembered and honored.

Events like Wreaths Across America embody NEOPAT’s mission to remember, honor, and teach. By coming together as a community—even in the coldest conditions—we affirm our promise to those who served and ensure their sacrifices are never forgotten.
